Given the min has been cancelled they are all inactive in my area. But the restart of activity might be just around the corner.

Rumor of Religion wanting to contact Inactives
by LongHairGal ini saw a post on reddit from somebody claiming to be an elder that the jw religion wants to contact all inactives.. some of the responses indicate that some were contacted or had close friends or relatives being asked for their contact information.
some of these people have been out of the jw religion for many years and have moved on.
the ones contacted said the jw informed them about cancelled meetings (as though they would care).

Covid-19 (Coronavirus) - Status Update Thread
by Simon inthis topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.
latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.
the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.

In the UK, the issue appears to be - which parts of the health service make money and could make money if privatised. Potentially money-making ones get the money thrown at them but those that don't make any money have their budgets slowly cut back in the hope that no one notices. Such as care for the elderly.
When a population no longer values its widows and orphans, things deteriorate because no one is that fussed about the sad plight of the most helpless.

Fall Guy - they'll have to self-isolate in the bunker. Guess there'll need to be a lot of room as they stand a few meters apart from one another.
I passed the spot where I usually see a trolley. No one out. If they were out, I think a few people might speak to them given the panic. But they are nowhere to be seen. I expect they are all very happy because the ministry in my area has been cancelled. And it's nice for me too because I don't get trolley-shunned. Just supermarket-shunned. Or coffee-bar-shunned.

An elderly sister told me of the time a life assurance man called on her. She said to him, "but I am not going to die." He nearly fell over backwards when she said that.
She died some years ago.
She had no retirement plan but had been helpful throughout her life to many. Somehow she managed. But I watched out of her window as pioneer after pioneer walked passed her window because she was not someone they were looking to date. She was old, was no good for gossip or having a laugh. Worse still, she was baptised so you couldn't count your time with her.
An elder, not known for being thoughtful, did one kind act. He told his children they could count their time with her. Suddenly she had more visitors.
If it was WT policy to care for elderly ones, not one of them would be without care - the younger ones would rally round but they are discouraged from doing so. After all, someone's got to spend hours next to a literature trolley being ignored by the public, haven't they? Otherwise all the homeless people would wonder where their day-time companions had gone.

this week's study, no 52, march 1 2020 wt dec 1919. picture description (on page 27) for pages 23 and 26 but not for the one on page 24, too embarrassing?
picture it, page 24. the wt lady, with a head volume ~8 times that of the gentlemen sitting behind her, eager to have her voice boom in the kingdom hall, raising arms with 3 other "sisters", whereas all 4 males are abstaining.

You can see a man holding a baby - I expect the message is supposed to be, "brothers, if your wife is always having to look after the children, she wont get anything from the meetings and wont achieve the full level of indoctrination. Therefore, if you look after the baby, she wont be able to escape into the toilets or the mother and babies room quite so often. Instead she'll set an example to little Selathiel who is watching the microphone being passed to 18 month old Fifi as she gives her first answer. Little Selathiel is now thinking how much he would like to give his first answer.

Unwritten, congregational 'rules'
by Thetruthhurts inwhat were some of yours?
the big one in our hall was no frontal hugs!
these were generally thought of as inappropriate, only side hugs should be given between sisters and brothers.

Dr Who - you've helped me to figure out what was different about my cong so I stayed in.
We had two sister congregations in my area. One was like yours (the picnic one). I did not recognise that congregation as Christian. I could see there was something seriously wrong with it. But the congregation I joined was really nice. Yes, it had been a place of bullies, but they had died off, leaving many kind hearted souls who were at worst naive and a few savvy elders. Also, ones moving from teens to young adulthood who did their own thing.
The savvy elders did deceive me, but they could be very kind.
I guess it didn't last more than a few years like that. Then a CO came along, saw the bad state of the sister congregation, the happy state of ours and mixed all the elders up. The result, my ex-cong gradually became as horrible as the sister cong and I got kicked out last year (2019).

I was once kindly given a lot of eggs and wanted to share them with the others. So I took them to our KH and went out into one of the back rooms where I handed them out. Free.
Next thing is I am getting told off for SELLING eggs at the KH. I said, "I'm not selling them I am giving them out." I didn't get told off but I sensed the disapproval. So I never did such a thing again.
